PRIMARY TEACHER - AGES 6-7

Join us in our quest to educate for sustainability through real-life learning!

Full time, starting between now and August 2020

REAL School Budapest is a new international school for kids who will imagine and shape tomorrow - and today. Through project-based learning, kids discover the world and themselves, develop a sustainability mindset and skills to make a difference, and learn to adapt to change. The School is inspired by Green School Bali - where our founding team worked before. While the school follows the National Curriculum in England in its foundational literacies, its focus is on nurturing entrepreneurial skills, wellbeing and personal qualities of its students through holistic education.

“What’s your goal and how can I help?” - How a simple question can revolutionise education.

IS THIS YOU?

Are you an experienced and inspiring primary teacher who has the full toolbox of teaching and learning at their fingerprint, wanting to break out of the box? Do you care for social or environmental issues? Have you always trusted kids to have a say in their own learning? Are you a brave educator with a Masters or Bachelor of Education degree and Qualified Teacher Status?

You

  • Have at least 2 years experience teaching ages 6-7
  • Have experience in teaching reading and writing in a holistic way
  • Love being in nature, exploring the forest and use its treasures in your classes
  • Are at ease rhyming, singing and dancing with the pupils
  • Are comfortable painting, puppeteering and above all, playing with the little ones
  • Have a high level of self-motivation to plan ahead, the tenacity to persevere, and the ability to improvise
  • Speak native or near-native English
  • Are caring, kind, compassionate and fun to be with

THEN JOIN OUR SCHOOL

REAL School Budapest is an opportunity for entrepreneurial teachers who have the utmost passion not only for teaching, but also for being part of building a dynamic professional faculty, and for developing an innovative learning programme with a purpose. Join a community where causes take centre stage, and real-life project-based learning, student agency and sustainability are at the core of continuous innovation.

TO TAKE ON A REAL CHALLENGE

Inspire, guide and mentor a mixed-age group of lower primary kids. Create an engaging learning environment and experiences through a sustainability lens. Play, play and play. Involve the parents, seek out community connections. Keep that fire of curiosity burning for connecting, learning and creating, while also keeping an eye on the children gaining the necessary “survival skills” (reading, writing, maths). Help kids connect the dots about our world, and their place in it, and help make them feel that they matter. Be a core part of the team that co-designs the learning programme for the school and builds its community.

AND ENJOY UNIQUE BENEFITS

  • Practice and help invent progressive education with a purpose, while enjoying the freedom, independence and inspirational community REAL School offers
  • Have opportunities to get out of the box you have been teaching in, implement your ideas, projects and new learning methods
  • Earn appropriate compensation that is commensurate with making the school accessible to a diverse community
  • Enjoy the best Budapest, “the Paris of the East”, has to offer

Please fill out the short application form, and upload your CV and a cover letter on WHY you and WHY this endeavour. Once shortlisted, we’ll ask you to send a short video that will inspire us about a topic that lights your fire.
