(EU and UK citizens only due to COVID-19 visa process restrictions*)

Join us in our quest to educate for sustainability through real-life learning!

Full time from AUGUST 2020

REAL School Budapest is a new international school for kids who will imagine and shape tomorrow - and today. Through project-based learning, kids discover the world and themselves, develop a sustainability mindset and skills to make a difference, and learn to embrace change. The School is inspired by Green School Bali - where our founding team worked before. While the school follows the National Curriculum in England in its foundational literacies, its focus is on nurturing entrepreneurial skills, wellbeing and personal qualities of its students through real-life experiences.

How can YOU help make our mission reality? What can you bring to the party?

IS THIS YOU?

Are you an experienced and inspiring English literacy or homeroom teacher who has the full toolbox of teaching and learning at their fingertips, wanting to break out of the box? Do you feel a deep passion and responsibility for building a sustainable, equitable, peaceful world through education? Have you always trusted kids to have a say in their own learning?

You

  • Have at least 3 years experience teaching KS2 or KS3
  • Have a Masters or Bachelor of Education degree or Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have experience with inquiry- or project-based learning (a plus)
  • Have experience with and value diversity, engaging students from many different cultures and with a wide range of learning needs
  • Inspire the natural curiosity in kids, facilitate learning rather than deliver content
  • Have a high level of self-motivation to plan ahead in a holistic way, the tenacity to persevere, and the ability to improvise
  • Strive to live a sustainable lifestyle, and love to be connected with nature
  • Have started and/or supported causes to better the world (a major plus)
  • Are a great collaborator with both students and adults, enlisting your problem-solving and relationship-building skills
  • Hold your colleagues and students accountable, and you are receptive and humble when they hold you accountable.
  • Are a lifelong learner, you have a growth mindset, and you are intellectually curious and deeply committed to learning and growing
  • Play an instrument and love jamming (a significant plus)
  • Speak native or near-native in English
  • Are caring, kind, compassionate and fun to be with

THEN JOIN OUR SCHOOL

REAL School Budapest is an opportunity for entrepreneurial teachers who have the utmost passion not only for teaching, but also for being part of building a dynamic professional faculty, and for developing an innovative learning programme with a purpose. Join a community where causes take centre stage, and real-life project-based learning, student agency and sustainability are at the core of continuous innovation.

TO TAKE ON A REAL CHALLENGE

Guide and teach students to master the fundamentals of the English language, and inspire them to go deep. Create a safe space for learning the spoken language, reading comprehension, critical thinking, transcription and composition, develop their discussion and debate skills, and practice to write for a variety of purposes and audiences across a range of contexts.

The future changemakers of our communities will need to be masters at forming, articulating and communicating ideas with clarity and awareness of their audience, purpose and context. They will also need to be well-read, both for pleasure and for knowledge.

At REAL School we believe that learning happens based on quality relationships, with students and teachers setting smart goals together, and using modern techniques of assessment for and as learning.

Educators at the School collaborate to make the learning relevant, entrepreneurial and art-filled by co-designing cross-curricular units and real-life projects.
